First Easter

Chloe’s first Easter was enjoyable and I know Chloe had an awesome time! The morning started out the usual way, but instead we headed over to my moms place around 10ish, Chloe had her second breakfast there, took a bath and dressed for the day. I grilled, while Jimmy helped. We feasted on steaks, grilled chicken, sausages, hot dogs, beans, roasted yams and other yummy stuff. Chloe had her first egghunt and “found” six eggs lying openly in the grass, she also had her first taste of grass too! Chloe then retired for a well deserved afternoon nap, while Jimmy and I went to get our game of monopoly, when we returned, he and I and my mom played a nice game together (jimmy won)!

The most exciting part of the day is was in the morning when Chloe perfected her clapping skills! We’ve been working with her on learning to clap, helping her put her hands together. Easter morning she finally grasped the clapping concept and began clapping with no help! This led her to become a clapping fool! She clapped most of the day, happily applauding various moments of the day. I know she enjoyed her day! She enjoyed it so much while playing with her Grammy, she got into a giggle fest and began laughing so hard she fell over and still kept laughing, flipped herself over to sitting again and kept on going! It was so AWESOME! Jimmy and I couldn’t help but laugh with happiness, it was a truly precious moment in our lives as parents.

To know our child is happy with her life is an amazing thought/feeling. While the years will come and go, I’m not sure what’s ahead, I’m sure there will be tough times and happy ones, but for the tough times I know we’ll stand strong as a family pulling each other through, hanging on to the “belly laughs” for encouragement. Hanging on the all the happy times much more closely, taking joy in our happy child, creating a happy home!

PS: Chloe was clapping in her sleep last night! :)

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Chloe’s first St. Patrick’s Day was pretty special thanks to the annual Shea Family Party.  These people are dear Irish friends of ours and we love them very much and enjoy spending time with them at this time every year.  Chloe got to see the family once more and meet others for the first time (outside of my tummy, since this time last year I was pregnant).  Although she didn’t get to eat any corned beef, she got to enjoy some potatoes and cabbage.  Once she got some food in her tummy, she lightened up a bit and begin to socialize, giggling included.

Chloe really seemed to enjoy the company of Emma (Aunt Joyce’s niece), Emma likes Chloe and Chloe feels the same way.  Chloe amused herself watching Emma draw pictures of a maze, a bear and a cat, which she drew especially for Chloe and let her take home.  Maureen and Jesus watched Chloe with delight and Maureen held and tickled Chloe after dinner.  Aunt Joyce got some giggles in as well.

All in all, the evening was pleasurable.  Thank you O’Shea’s for another St. Patrick’s Day well spent!

Tagged (Mommy/Baby Version)

Jimmy got tagged by Reylynne, now he tagged me. I’m supposed to come up with 10 random things about myself people may or may not know about me. Since this is a blog about Chloe and our journey together, I thought I’d mention 10 random things about us as a mommy/baby couple, so here goes!

  1. We take a morning nap together almost every day between the hours of 8 and 10 am.
  2. I don’t usually answer the phone between the hours of 8 to 10am because of the above.
  3. We go to the bathroom together at 10 am almost every day.
  4. Chloe has successfully used the potty at 10 every morning for 11 days now!
  5. Chloe doesn’t care for TV (thank goodness!)
  6. I use a sling (a Hotsling) to carry Chloe when we’re out and about, have since she was a newborn.
  7. Chloe doesn’t like juice, just milk and sometimes water.
  8. Chloe hasn’t had ice cream, we’re waiting til her first birthday.
  9. I still swaddle Chloe, it still works when she’s restless.
  10. I’ve loved Chloe since I was a little girl playing with my Cabbage Patch, Anna Marie. I’ve been practicing for these moments my whole life! I’ve always been a mommy in my heart, now it’s a reality!

“Pah Pah Pah”

Means mama.  When Chloe was about 6 months or so, I taught her “I love you” by making the popping sound with my lips three times.  First I would say “I love you”, then make the sounds, now whenever you ask her to say “mama”, she makes the “pah pah pah” sound with her lips instead.  Funny.  Although I suppose saying “mama” would be awesome, somehow I don’t mind the “pah pah pah”, I know one day she’ll say “mama” and soon “mommy” (the name of my choice).  For now I’ll enjoy our secret way of communication, well, not so secret anymore.

Well on to other news, I’m super happy since my Graco Pack ‘n Play arrived Monday afternoon.  Since Chloe has been more on the move, I’ve been in need of a way to wrangle her while making myself some lunch/doing dishes/laundry/etc.  After debate with Jimmy about how a Pack ‘n Play would be extremely helpful, despite the eye sore Jimmy thinks they are, I was able to find one to match our home as best as one could, ordered it and am now enjoying the bit of time this contraption has allowed me.  Great invention I tell you!
